Cataract, in simple terms, mean a cloudy lens and leading to blurred vision. Cataract is the leading cause of visual impairment among older adults. Fortunately, visual impairment due to cataract are often reversible through cataract surgery. Cataract surgery is the removal of the cloudy lens and replacing it with an artificial lens. There are different types of lenses available today.

Duration

Cataract surgery typically takes about 10-15 minutes. The procedure is done under local anaesthesia and is painless.

Recovery

Most patients experience significant improved in vision after cataract surgery. The new artificial lens allows light to focus properly on the retina. Patients can usually go home on the same day as the surgery.
